Date: 2026-09-10. Status: implemented.

Decision. The two reference tables are named phs_bands and govscot_bands. The joined output is postcode_simd and the directory table is postcode_index.

Reason. The pair of names states the one thing an analyst must not confuse, which publisher's weighting a band carries. Grain-based names distinguished nothing, since both tables are keyed by edition and data zone.

Evidence. Step 2 review, 10 September 2026. Renamed before the first release so the instance record starts with the final keys.
